See some of Croatia’s most beautiful terrain on this adventurous, 1-day hiking trip. Depart in the early morning by car from Zagreb and make your way to Croatia’s mountainous Gorski Kotar region, often called “the Green Lungs of Croatia” because of its thick forests. Your destination is National Park Risnjak, one of Croatias best kept secrets! See the famous Schlosser hut, optionally scramble to the top of the rocks and see the sea on clear days. Hike bakc and hike to source of river Kupa, magnificen dark green colour water source erupting from deep depth of earth! Return by evening back to Zagreb, where the tour ends. This is a long lasting day, feeling as two!

Day 1 Zagreb - Risnjak & Kupa hike - Zagreb

Early star at 6:00 Am we pick you up from your Zagreb accommodation. After 2h transfer arrival at Risnjak. Risnjak in National Park and part of Croatias region "Gorski Kotar", well known for its thick forests and rugged mountains. We pass through Crni lug village and proceed deeper to mountains. After leaving behind last village we soon start our hike up the hill, approximately around 8:00 AM. We hike to the Schlosser mountain hut, with uphill hike lasting around 3h. Enjoy the spectacular views of this magnificent forest trail, and proceed from mountain hut to the peak of Veliki Risnjak!
Last part includes some rock scrambling and is optional, but recommendable as the view from the top is unforgettable! On clear days you can see mountain Velebit, Učka, town Rijeka, sea and islands close to Rijeka! Return downhill hike back lasts around 2-3 hours.
After short transfer another trail to Kupa source give us inside into deep greeen source of river! Kupa hike is only 1,5h return hike, after which we reutrn back to Zagreb. (2h)
